Overnight Horseback Camping

Extend the enjoyment of the scenic horseback  ride with the pleasures of camping in the beautiful wilderness area of Colorado’s San Juan Mountains without any of the work involved.

Overnight rides start at 1:00 P.M. from a designated trail head.

You will spend the afternoon enjoying the breathtaking scenery from the 14 and 15 thousand feet peaks high above the Purgatory ski area.

Your camp will include a large canvas tent with a wood stove for chilly evenings and mornings. Enjoy the outdoors with a hearty supper cooked over an open campfire. You are sure to remember this evening under the starry skies for years to come.

The next morning you will awake to the sounds of birds, horses, and camp life.  Cowboy coffee will be waiting, served fresh and hot along with a hearty trail breakfast.

You may choose to spend your morning with more time on your horse, hike a beckoning trail, or simply relax.   Lunch will be provided by the Mangus 5 team.

Campers will return to their vehicles at the trail’s head by mid-afternoon to allow time for driving down the mountain.

You will need to bring a sleeping bag, hat, clothes, camera and personal items.  All your gear will be packed on the Mangus 5 pack animals, allowing you to relax and enjoy the ride.

 The cost of an overnight camping trip is $240.00 per person.
