This is the ULTIMATE Horse Camping Experience! Since riding is what it is all about, on the “Ultimate” trip, you will ride trails throughout the Hermosa Creek area of the San Juan National Forest in SW Colorado. The Mangus 5 Outfitters love to show you some of the most beautiful places to ride. This trip is for the horsemen who want to experience the backcountry among 13 and 14 thousand foot peaks.

On the first day, your supplies are carefully loaded on Mangus pack horses to be carried to base camp. You will not have to do any of the work!

Safety is always of utmost importance. However, “Where trees are, trees fall....” The Mangus 5 Outfitters make every effort to keep downfall cut from the trail.  The safety of you and your horse is of upmost importance to them.

Your Horse Ride camp has large canvas wall tents complete with camp equipment to keep your comfortable. 

Certified hay is included  for all horses.  High lines to tie your horse at night are provided by the Mangus team.

The first morning in camp starts with a hearty breakfast around the campfire.  After saddling and loading lunches, riders will head down the trail.

The difficulty and length of the rides are customized to accommodate the abilities of the riders as well as the horses. 

Spend the day enjoying your horse and the country. The Mangus team can give you many suggestions for thrilling trails and views.  You make the choice. Pause in the middle of the day for a refreshing picnic with breathtaking scenery.

Mid to late afternoon, riders return to camp to enjoy a campfire supper and share the day’s experiences.
